Wellness Week

Well Well Well... - St. Joseph's College
Arc

Activity description

The club organised a Wellness Week with different stress-relief activities happening each day. On two of the days, they set up a Wellness Corner in the school’s extracurricular room. Inside, there was a boxing corner and a Nintendo Switch Sports station where students could release stress through physical activity. The club also created a Gratitude & Stress Wall, where students could write down something they were grateful for or something that had been stressing them out. Anyone who contributed to the wall received a free fidget toy. The wall was also filled with facts about various mental health conditions and coping strategies to help raise awareness and spark conversations about mental well-being. On another day, the club hosted an Open Mic session where both teachers and students could go up and perform any song they chose. This provided a space for self-expression, creativity, and emotional release.

Activity highlight

The Wellness Week took place from November 18–21 and was a huge success, attracting over 300 participants throughout the four days. At first, the club members felt unsure about the turnout since they had never organised an event of this scale before. However, the response exceeded their expectations — many students joined the activities, and several even asked when the next event would be held. The Wellness Corner specifically became quite crowded at times, which made the space feel a bit overwhelming to manage. Still, the strong turnout showed just how much students appreciated having a supportive and engaging space to relax, de-stress, and connect with one another.

Students loved the punching bag station!
The open mic was a huge success—so many talented singers!

Purpose behind this activity

The purpose of these activities was to promote student well-being by providing accessible, engaging, and practical opportunities for stress relief. Through a combination of physical outlets, creative expression, and reflective exercises, the Wellness Week aimed to normalise conversations about mental health, increase awareness of common challenges, and equip students with simple coping strategies they can use in their daily lives. The initiative also sought to strengthen the school’s sense of community by creating safe, supportive spaces where students could connect, unwind, and feel heard.
