Notes of Cheer, Dreams Near

Isle of Minds - Heep Yunn School
Arc

Activity description

As the DSE examinations draw near, Form 6 students often experience immense pressure. In response, our mental wellness club, “Isle of Minds,” launched the “Notes of Cheer, Dreams Near” campaign. We invited students from Form 1 to Form 5 to compose sincere encouragement cards during class time. These simple yet heartfelt messages, such as “Wishing you every success in your exams” or “May all your dreams come true,” carry the collective warmth and unwavering support of the entire school community. A set of cards from F.1 to F.5 was distributed to Form 6 students, offering them a profound sense of being truly seen and cherished amid the intensity of exam preparation.

Complementing this initiative, we established a Photo Booth on the final day of school especially for our Form 6 students. Graduates were warmly invited to capture joyful moments with friends, teachers, and mentors, thereby creating treasured memories to mark the conclusion of their secondary school journey. Through these images and blessings, we hope to ease their exam anxiety, strengthen their resilience, and nurture meaningful connections, thereby fully embodying the Relaxation, Relationship, and Resilience pillars of the 4Rs Mental Health Charter.

Activity highlight

The writing event held on 27/1 was a great success, with many students writing heartfelt messages and adding cute drawings to their cards. The encouragement cards were distributed on 2/3. Overall, the Form 6 students greatly enjoyed receiving the encouragement cards and had a wonderful time taking photos at the photobooth.

Every line was written with particular seriousness. This was no ordinary greeting, but a chorus of encouragement for the elder sisters in the thick of exam season. Small as the cards were, they carried a great weight of feeling. May this warmth travel beyond the classroom, past stress and uncertainty, and land in their hands. May it say: You have never been alone.
The cards came in different handwriting, drawings and styles, yet they held the same intention. They wanted the elder sister to know that along this demanding road, many hearts were walking with them, quietly cheering them on.
And then there were the postcards, no two alike. One held a seaside sunset, another one held a splash of flowers brightening a street corner. The photographs were taken by the students themselves. They were unpolished, untrained, and therefore honest. They sent these pieces of scenery to Form Six sisters buried in revision. They hoped to offer a brief chance to catch their breath. On the cards they wrote, “When you’re tired, look out the window,” and, “Keep going, but remember to rest.” The handwriting might have been youthful, but the care behind it was unmistakably real.
This would be their last year taking photos like this on campus. A photograph captures only one instant, but the friendships and memories made here are timeless. These bonds have been slowly etched onto the film of their lives. One day, looking back, they will feel a thread of warmth rise again.

Purpose behind this activity

A simple card or a captured moment represents far more than a mere gesture of care. These thoughtful acts serve as heartfelt reminders that no one walks this journey alone. May every Form 6 student carry this support with them as they step confidently toward the next chapter of their lives.
