Lunchtime for Songs

Lions Heart - Lions Clubs International Tseung Chui King College
Arc

Activity description

The activity will be promoted during morning assemblies and homeroom classes, with all staff and students receiving a song request form. All students and teachers can participate freely; those interested can write messages or blessings on the form, select songs they wish to hear, and place the completed forms in a collection box.

Each lunch break, the host will broadcast several blessings and messages written by students on the song request forms, followed by playing the selected songs. This aims to encourage students to express their feelings and support each other, providing a relaxing emotional outlet. Additionally, we hope that through music, all staff and students can immerse themselves at their own pace, gradually releasing the tension of daily life by listening to and humming along with the songs, thereby reducing stress and promoting relaxation.

Activity highlight

The club held a lunchtime song request broadcast activity from October 20 to 24 2025, with participation from all 545 teachers and students. On October 19, the club promoted the event during the morning assembly and requested that each homeroom teacher distribute song request forms to all students, inviting them to join the activity.

Between October 20 and 24, committee members collected the completed forms daily for selection, and during each lunch break, the host read 10 to 20 blessings from the song request forms and played the selected songs. Some students sent birthday wishes to others, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere, as if the entire school was celebrating the birthday student together.

The host is holding a stack of song request forms, preparing for the lunch time broadcast.

The committee members were thrilled to see the activity encourage students to actively care for one another and offer blessings, as it helped those who typically struggle to express themselves take the first step. They also noted how much students enjoyed listening to music, which contrasted sharply with their usual busy and indifferent expressions, leaving them deeply moved.

Purpose behind this activity

To respond to the needs of students—alleviating academic fatigue during lunch and providing a relaxed emotional outlet—the club aims to create an environment and atmosphere centered around 'Relaxation' in the music broadcasting activity. This will help students relieve stress, feel free, and resonate with one another, allowing them to immerse themselves in the music at their own pace, naturally shedding the tension of daily life without the pressure to 'act' in a certain way.
