Farewell Postcards and Song Sessions

Well Well Well... - St. Joseph's College
Arc

Activity description

The club organised a farewell event for Form 6 students ahead of the start of their study period the following week. The event had two main parts. First, teachers and students wrote farewell postcards, either for specific Form 6 students or for the cohort as a whole. These cards were then distributed to the Form 6 students as messages of encouragement and appreciation. Second, the club hosted Song Sessions during two lunchtime periods. Students submitted song requests along with short messages, which were read aloud before the songs were played, creating a warm and meaningful send-off for the Form 6 students.

Activity highlight

The activity took place on January 19–20 and was very successful. Many students submitted song requests, ensuring that there was a continuous flow of music throughout the event. Students were excited to hear their selected songs and often stopped by the PA system room to check when their song would be played. Form 6 students also deeply appreciated the encouraging notes they received. The club was happy to have created an opportunity for students and teachers to share support and encouragement during this meaningful period.

Purpose behind this activity

The purpose of this activity was to support the school’s Form 6 students as they prepared to enter their study period and upcoming DSE examinations. This is often a highly stressful time, so the activity aimed to help the whole school recognise these challenges and show collective care. By doing so, it reinforced the message that Form 6 students are supported and do not have to face this journey alone.
