DIY Good Mood Cupcakes

Positive Ambassador - Tack Ching Girls' Secondary School
Arc

Activity description

The activity will allow students to make two cupcakes, one for themselves and one to give to a friend, to strengthen friendships. Participants can use different colored buttercream, chocolate sticks, and decorations to DIY their favorite cupcake designs. We hope that through the making process, students will increase their interaction and communication skills.

Activity highlight

Before the event even started, 20 people had already signed up, showing how much the students were looking forward to it. On the day of the event, the students lined up enthusiastically outside. Committee members first introduced the purpose and process of the event to the participants, and then invited them to make cupcakes. The students picked up the materials and got to work, piping cream onto the cupcakes and then decorating them with ornaments. Committee members assisted the students and provided packaging boxes. We invited them to taste the cupcakes on the spot, and some students chose to give them to friends or teachers as a way of thanking their teachers for their guidance.

The student showed some nervousness while attempting to decorate with cream, but still worked hard to complete their piece. This exemplifies the resilience concept from 4RS, encouraging them to be brave in trying new things.

Purpose behind this activity

To help students understand the concept of mindfulness, we incorporated elements of the five senses into the cupcake-making process, allowing them to enjoy the experience. This process helped them temporarily forget their worries, achieving a relaxing effect. The cupcake-making process also enhanced communication and teamwork among students, fostering positive relationships and creating a pleasant atmosphere.
