Recognizing the Source of Disgust

Arc

Disgust is one of our basic emotions, and it is indicated by various signs, such as

1)Postures: physically turning the body away from the source of disgust.
2)Physical sensations: nausea, revulsion in the stomach and nausea.
3)Facial expressions: lowered eyebrows, wrinkling of the nose, and raised upper lip.

Disgust can be triggered by different things, such as food that looks terrible or tastes unpleasant. Sometimes, immoral or evil actions byof other people can also be triggers of disgust. On top of that, you may develop feelings of hate, hoping that they get the punishment they deserve.

Hate someone so bad that you want them dead? Find yourself too evil and start hating yourself?

Perhaps we all have someone we hate so bad that it makes us think, “Can he/she die already?” The calmest person in the world may also feel angry sometimes, and our conscience will start condemning ourselves. “Don’t be too harsh. Why do you have such thoughts?” We will then find ourselves too evil, which puts us in a vicious cycle of hate and guilt. Yet, when that person comes to our mind again, the feelings of hate will return, and we will struggle emotionally while being deeply in conflict with ourselves.

It is your way of protecting yourself and dealing with hate

Disgust and hate are usually triggered when we feel’re harmed or treated unfairly by other people. And if the other party doesn’t suffer the consequences they deserve, feelings of hate will appear. The development of hate is caused by intense dislike. We’re only trying to protect and defend ourselves, which is totally okay. Our thoughts don't determine our actions. What we need to control isn’t our thoughts, but how we deal with our emotions. We can think of ways to distract ourselves and resolve those feelings of hate. For example, go shopping, enjoy a feast, or talk to friends. After venting our anger, we will feel so much calmer. In fact, it’s okay to hate someone, so don’t be ashamed of your feelings.
