Activity description

The activity was divided into two main parts: dealing with emotions and finding ways to manage them. First, students wrote down recent sources of stress, worries, or fatigue on slips of paper, folded them up, and placed them inside a small glass jar—symbolizing setting their burdens aside rather than carrying them alone. Next, students wrote down their personal go-to ways to relax and recharge on decorative tags—such as listening to music, sleeping, working out, chatting with friends, or taking a walk—and tied them to the outside of the jar. The finished jar was more than just a handmade craft; it served as a personal 'emotional sanctuary,' reminding students to rest and practice self-care when stress hits, while encouraging them to exchange stress-relief ideas and support one another.

Activity highlight

In mid-May, the club held a wellness activity that invited students to explore emotions together, drawing participation from both students and teachers. Students began by folding paper slips marked with their personal stressors into paper stars and placing them inside glass jars—a gesture designed to help students lay down emotions amid their busy school lives and find a safe, cozy space to destress. Throughout the activity, students thoroughly enjoyed creating their custom 'emotional sanctuaries,' with every finished jar showcasing its maker's unique personality!

Students shared their sources of stress and explored ways to relieve stress.🫂

Watching students actively participate and gradually make peace with their worries was deeply rewarding for the club committee members. The activity suggested healthy ways to destress while giving committee members a genuine sense of accomplishment and fulfillment from helping their peers, helping ease their own built-up tension along the way.

Purpose behind this activity

To help students learn to recognize and express their feelings, the club hopes this activity will give them a chance to process their recent stress through writing and discover the stress-relief methods that work best for them.
