Peer Nap

Activity description
In the school setting, many students face a lack of sleep, and lunchtime provides an ideal opportunity to catch up on rest. The club hopes to elevate the nap camp beyond simply being “sleep time,” by aligning it with the 4Rs framework to foster both mental and social restoration.
• Rest/Relaxation: By dimming the lights, using LED star lamps for a soft visual effect, and playing ambient music, teachers and students are guided into deep relaxation, effectively lowering stress hormone (cortisol) levels.
• Resilience: Redefining “rest” so students understand that napping is not laziness but a form of “strategic recharging.” It helps the brain clear metabolic waste, recover from morning fatigue, and strengthen psychological resilience for afternoon challenges.
• Relationship: In Room 601, a safe and supportive “collective quiet” space is created. Within this shared atmosphere of relaxation, teachers and students experience a non‑competitive sense of belonging, reinforcing social bonds and emotional support across campus.
• Reflection: Guided by the 4Fs (Fact, Feeling, Finding, Future), students learn to notice the physical differences between stress and relaxation states, and practice portable regulation techniques such as breathing exercises, enhancing their ability to manage emotions effectively.
Activity highlight
Daily school life is usually fast-paced, leaving little time for quiet relaxation. With thoughtful care, the club committee members launched this initiative to break the routine and create a warm haven on campus—a place where students and teachers could slow down and safely recharge. On the day of the activity, more than 40 students and faculty members turned out for an enthusiastic turnout!
The activity kicked off with club committee members and advising teacher, Mr. Lau, gathering everyone together. Everyone sang our custom lullaby—composed and written by the club—unwinding to its gentle melody and getting into a restful mindset before stepping into their chosen tents for a personal afternoon nap.
Many students immersed themselves completely, drifting into deep sleep. Seeing everyone let go of their stress and sleep so peacefully was immensely encouraging and rewarding for the committee members! As the event came to an end, students woke up with satisfied smiles, fully refreshed, recharged, and ready to go!
