Open Day: Wellness Room

Well Well Well... - St. Joseph's College
Arc

Activity description

The club organised a wellness room for students attending the school’s Open Day—the biggest event of the year. The room was divided into four interactive zones. In the first zone, students could “shoot down” common mental health misconceptions using Nerf guns. The second zone featured the Stress and Gratitude Wall, which was a popular activity from the club’s first event. Another station, Throw Your Stress Away, allowed students to write down their worries and literally throw them into a bin. The final zone was a True/False booth where participants answered questions about mental health. After visiting all four booths and collecting stamps, participants could redeem them for a small fidget toy.

Activity highlight

The activity took place on February 8 during the school’s Open Day. The event attracted many students, as well as some students’ family members who were also attending. Participants especially enjoyed the Nerf gun booth, as it felt like a fun carnival-style game while still being connected to mental health concepts. The activity ran throughout the entire day, and although the club members were tired by the end, they found it very rewarding to see how much fun participants were having and how engaged they were in learning more about and discussing their mental health.

The nerf gun booth was a huge success!

Purpose behind this activity

The purpose of this event was to give students—and maybe even their families attending the Open Day—a fun and interactive way to learn about mental health. Through activities like the Nerf gun booth, the event aimed to encourage students to pay attention to their mental wellness, create a relaxed and safe environment for participation, and inspire curiosity and conversation about mental health.
