Mood Through Art

Activity description
This activity allows students to explore and express their inner feelings through drawing and tactile creative processes. During the creation process, students also help one another, thereby enhancing friendship and communication skills. Students use various decorative materials to embellish their artwork and depict their current emotions with different colours, which helps improve emotional awareness and regulation. Through the slow drawing process, students can gradually reduce stress and anxiety, shifting their attention away from worries about the future and back to the present moment. By focusing on the act of creating itself, they are able to ease physical and mental stress responses and enjoy a calm and focused creative experience.
Activity highlight
During this activity, students were highly engaged, with laughter often heard throughout the venue. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and joyful, filled with interaction and supportive energy. While creating, students not only focused on their own works but also appreciated and shared inspiration, forming a natural environment of communication and encouragement that made the space feel more connected and warm. Students were also encouraged to break away from fixed frameworks, freely express their creativity, and experiment with different colour combinations, materials, and forms of expression, in order to create unique works of their own 🖼️. In a process without a single “correct answer,” students were able to express themselves more freely and gain a sense of achievement and confidence from their creations.

Committee members introduced the activity and the making process, so students can unleash their imagination and create a unique, personalised artwork. At the same time, improve their focus.
Purpose behind this activity
The workshop aimed for students to, during the painting process, engage with a variety of materials and focus on present-moment tactile sensations. By carefully feeling the resistance created when mixing materials and paint, they could learn to gradually sort through and regulate their emotions. In a calm and focused state, students would progressively enhance their awareness of both mind and body. This activity not only helps relieve stress but also guides students to adjust and express their emotions in healthy ways.
