Let’s Chill Together - Bead‑Stringing Workshop

Activity description
To help students relax their bodies and minds amid heavy academic pressure and the emotional strain it can bring, the club launched the “Let’s Chill Together” bead‑stringing workshop. Held after school, the activity used bead‑stringing as a calming tool, inviting students to focus quietly on the rhythmic, hands‑on process. As they slowly threaded beads together, they were encouraged to pause, breathe, and leave worries behind for a while. Completing their own unique creations offered a sense of achievement and self‑worth, helping them build a more positive mindset toward stress and difficult emotions.
Activity highlight
During the activity, the committee prepared a variety of beads in different colours, shapes, and textures, allowing students to freely choose their favourite combinations and make their own mobile phone charm. Some students also used alphabet beads to spell out phrases such as “trust yourself” or “Love.” When they use their phone charm, each word becomes a small mental‑health reminder, encouraging them to believe in themselves and be kind to themselves, even when under pressure.
Putting on their own “positive reminder”, feeling proud and happy!
At the end of the session, everyone left with their finished beadwork, looking relaxed and satisfied. Some students shared that when they later see their hand‑made beads, it reminds them to “take a break first, then face the pressure,” and to rethink how to handle difficulties in a gentler and more patient way.
Purpose behind this activity
Through the “Let’s Chill Together” activity, the club hopes students will learn to pause and breathe amid the fast pace of school life, and understand that taking time to relax is a meaningful way to care for their mental wellbeing. The committee wishes that students can use the bead‑stringing experience to cultivate present‑moment awareness, accept emotional ups and downs, and build a stronger sense of self‑worth. In doing so, they will grow more resilient and better equipped to face stress and tough emotions with courage and calm.
