Form 1 Welcome Day

Mindful Journey - TWGHs Lui Yun Choy Memorial College
Arc

Activity description

To help Form 1 newcomers adapt more quickly to their new environment and alleviate any anxieties about starting school, the wellness club organised a Form 1 Welcome Day during the summer holidays. This event was jointly facilitated by the committee members and the school's social work organisation, BGCA.

The day comprises warm-up activities and a Campus Checkpoint Game. Committee members will serve as hosts and group leaders, responsible for facilitating the games, attending to the needs of Form 1 students, and establishing initial connections and trust with them.

Through light-hearted and engaging activities, students will familiarise themselves with the school environment, get to know their classmates, and learn communication and mutual support through collaborative tasks. This aims to achieve relaxation and foster interpersonal relationships.

Activity highlight

To welcome the Form 1 students, the committee members familiarized themselves with the activity content and game procedures in advance to ensure clear division of labor and smooth flow.

On the day of the event, the atmosphere was lively. The committee members worked together, leading the Form 1 students through warm-up games and campus checkpoint tasks. The new students gradually relaxed from their initial nervousness, beginning to communicate and cooperate with each other, filling the room with laughter and cheers. Each checkpoint required students to think and cooperate together. While completing the tasks, everyone familiarized themselves with the campus environment and built initial trust and friendships through interaction.

Committee members served as group leaders, leading Form 1 students to share their experiences and feelings about the activities!

The event was successfully completed thanks to the BGCA team's on-site assistance and support in arranging and supporting each stage, making the entire process smoother. For the Form 1 students, this was not just a game experience, but also their first important memory of their secondary school years. Many students expressed feeling more relaxed and looking forward to the start of the new school year after the event.

Purpose behind this activity

The club hopes that through the orientation activities, Form 1 students will feel cared for and accepted as they enter a new phase of life, and that they can build interpersonal connections and self-confidence in a relaxed atmosphere. In the future, we hope to continue organizing various support activities so that more students can gain support and feel the warmth and sense of belonging of the campus as they adapt to school life.
