Filming Time

Heart Rest - Kau Yan College
Arc

Activity description

The committee members invited senior school students to work in class teams to create videos about how to cope with academic pressure. After collecting the videos, the junior school students were invited to watch the entries and learn useful stress management techniques that could benefit them.

Activity highlight

On 4th July, the committee hosted the second wellness activity of the year—"Filming Time". The theme of the activity was "Senior students working together to create videos on how to cope with academic pressure," and it attracted participation from students in seven senior school classes, with a total of 135 senior students involved in the filming. The videos had a wide variety of styles, full of creativity, and reflected the students' concern for mental health issues and their unique perspectives.

On the day of the event, the committee pre-organised all the entries and handed them over to the class teachers of the junior school to play during class time. During the screening, the students were fully engaged, with laughter echoing through the classrooms, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. As they watched the videos, the students learned various practical stress-relief methods, which enhanced their understanding of self-emotion management, laying a solid foundation for their future physical and mental well-being.

To help junior students better understand how to cope with academic pressure, some senior students even chose to film on location in a park, practising mindfulness in a real-life setting.

The activity featured three awards for each grade level: "Most Popular Award," "Best Script Award," and "Funniest Award," to recognise the effort and creativity of each group. A total of 300 junior school students participated in voting for their favourite entries, making the event more interactive and engaging.

Purpose behind this activity

The committee members hoped that through this event, they could strengthen class unity and leave senior school students with wonderful campus memories. The activity aimed to promote connections between students and, through the filming process, raise awareness of mental health topics. It also aimed to improve self-awareness and emotional management skills. At the same time, the committee hoped the senior students would use this opportunity to express their experiences with academic pressure, helping junior students and teachers better understand the challenges they face, so they could provide appropriate support.
