“Words to Lift You Up” Positivity Wall

Activity description
The club hosted a two-day “Words to Lift You Up” Positivity Wall, creating a welcoming space for students to pause, reflect, and share messages of support with the school community. Students were invited to write encouraging notes, personal reflections, or messages of gratitude on sticky notes, which were then displayed on a large bulletin board. Prompts such as “A challenge I overcame recently was…”, “Something that made me smile this week…”, and “A message I’d give my past self…” helped inspire students to share meaningful thoughts, though they were also free to write their own messages. Before being added to the wall, each note was briefly reviewed by a club member to ensure the space remained positive and respectful. As a small token of appreciation, participants could enjoy a piece of candy after sharing their message.
Activity highlight
The activity was held on March 12–13 and attracted over 100 participants. The board was placed at the entrance of the school, which meant that many younger form students also joined in unexpectedly. This created a lively and welcoming atmosphere, as students passing by stopped to read the messages and add their own words of encouragement. It was encouraging to see students from different year levels take part, with the whole school community coming together to write uplifting messages to one another. The board gradually filled with supportive notes, reminding students that they are not alone and that everyone can play a part in creating a positive and caring school environment.
Hope the messages from students will give you some encouragement~
Over the two days, the wall gradually grew into a colorful collection of reflections and encouragement, allowing students to read and connect with the experiences of others. Soft background music created a calming atmosphere, encouraging passersby to stop, read the notes, and take a moment to reflect. The activity highlighted the importance of Rest, Relaxation, Relationships, and Resilience (the 4Rs of the Mental Health Charter), reminding students that small words of encouragement can help build a stronger sense of connection and support within the school community.
Purpose behind this activity
The purpose of the activity was to create a visible culture of support and resilience within the school community. The wall was placed in a central and engaging location where students could share and receive encouragement, celebrate their learning experiences, acknowledge challenges, and remind one another that growth happens together.
