Creative Anxiety Release

Ju’s MindHarvest - Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Kwai Chung)
Arc

Activity description

Finding a stress relief method that suits you is crucial, such as exercising, deep breathing, or crafting small handmade items. Through this activity, the wellness club “Ju’s MindHarvest” hopes to help students find their own way to decompress by making a personalised stress ball. Stress balls are easy to make and highly effective at reducing stress. Whenever the students feel pressured, they can simply squeeze the stress ball to vent their frustrations and tension. Moreover, completing a unique, self-made stress ball provides a great sense of accomplishment.

Activity highlight

The wellness club "Ju’s MindHarvest" held the first in-school wellness activity in early February. Over two consecutive days, committee members organised the "Creative Anxiety Release" event at the 5th-floor covered playground, attracting about 40 participants. Students used various materials and accessories to design their own stress balls, adding different colours and materials. They thoroughly enjoyed the process and found it very relaxing. One of the most memorable moments was when students shared their sources of stress with the committee members, such as academic pressure or competition results, and mentioned how the stress balls helped them unwind. The committee members were heartened that students were willing to share their personal feelings.

Purpose behind this activity

The committee members hope this activity helps reduce academic pressure for students. By creating their own stress balls, students can alleviate stress through the tactile sensation of kneading and shaping the balls with their fingertips, while releasing anxiety through the process of creative expression.
